What it's good at

One timeline, nothing else to learn

Is this animation maker really free?

Yes. There's no paid plan, no trial, no credits and no export limit. The editor and every export run in your browser with no server doing the work, so one more person using it costs nothing.

Do I need an account or an install?

Neither. Open the page and the editor is there. Your project autosaves in your browser, and you can save it as a .smooth file to reopen it later or on another computer.

Can I make cartoons or animate characters?

Not really. smooth.video moves, scales, turns and fades elements on a timeline, which suits motion graphics, text and logos. It has no character library, no rigging and no frame-by-frame drawing. For cartoons, a tool built for them, like Pencil2D or Animaker, is a better fit.

Does it generate animations with AI?

No. You place and time everything yourself, so every word, color and movement stays editable. The one AI feature is background removal, and it runs on your own computer.

Which formats can I export?

MP4 for video and social platforms, GIF for emails and websites, WebM with a transparent background to lay over footage, and PNG, JPG or WebP for a still.
